Today we're changing an air conditioning compressor on a '96 Ford Explorer. In this step, I'm going to demonstrate the actual procedure for removing the compressor from the upper portion of the engine. What you can see is the air conditioning compressor right between my two hands. We have four bolts we need to deal with. They have a ten millimeter head on them. I'm going to use my three-eighths ratchet, ten millimeter socket and a long extension. Just going to go ahead and break them loose and begin taking them out of the top of the motor. There's one. Go ahead and remove the next one. Alright, got two more to go. Alright and for the last one. Alright, once you have all four bolts out, you can go ahead and take the compressor off of the top of the engine. Just like so. That is the proper service procedure for removing your compressor from the top of your motor.
