Summary: Cleaning out and flushing engine coolant with water. Learn tips on how to flush your engine cooling system in this free auto repair video.
" Hi! This is Jon on behalf of Expert Village. In this video clip, I am going to take you through step 3 in our procedure for flushing a cooling system. Once your coolant has started to come out almost clear, you are going to go ahead and turn off your engine, and turn off the hose that is feeding our fresh water into the engine. Now what you are going to do is you are going to let the remainder of the coolant, which would now be water, drain out of the bottom of that radiator plug. Once all of the coolant which is now water has drained from the drain plug in the bottom, you are going to take some compressed air, and you are going to put your hand over where you have been feeding your cold water into, and you are going to gently blow compressed air through the lines. Now this is going to help clear out any water that may have been kept in the lines, and it is going to blow out the bottom of that drain plug. Make sure you don't give it too mooch pressure; otherwise, you might damage some of your lines. When air is coming out of the drain plug at the bottom, you know that all the lines in your cooling system have been completely flushed of any water. "
