"Hi, Rob Mitchell again for Expert Village. We're going to be talking a little bit more about building our studio and another very important thing that we're going to use are reflectors. Now you're going to see in our shooting demos that we can use our key light and our fill light on our model. but sometimes we may not have enough lights to go around. Such as when we're using our travel kit, the novatron here with just two heads. I still like to have my key light, my fill light, I maybe like to throw a hair light in there, or maybe a background light. but I only have two lights. So what am I going to do? Well, instead of using a fill light I'm going to use a reflector to fill that side of the face in. To create that modeling effect. We got a couple of choices here. What I have here is a commercially made reflector. It collapses, undo this. It folds down. It's great for travel and you can, you can see what's happening as I move it around it's reflecting the light back into the camera lens. It's got a highly reflective surface. It's got a silver thread interwoven with white thread in here which kicks a lot of light back in. We're going to see just what this does to the model's face and when we take away that fill light. Which will free it up to use in another part of the studio. Now, if you don't want to go out and buy the commercial one you've got an easy alternative here and it's just a reflector board. All this is is just white cardboard and it does exactly the same thing. It reflects the light right back into the face. This one is beautiful, can be used. If you watch me you should be able to see. See how it's lighting things up ? It reflects the light right back into the face. Use it off to the side to add fill light here. Just saved ourselves a couple hundred dollars buying another light."
