The technology developed in the late 19th to early 20th century and quickly became a staple of modern culture and mass consumption. Many trace the beginning of film to a moment also considered the advent of the comic strip as we know it: Eadweard Muybridge's famous pictures of a horse's stride, which proved that in fact there is a moment when all four hooves are off the ground. "Today I'm going to be talking about audio recording, specifically of Canon XH A1 high definition camcorder. This is my personal camera, these are some of my personal external microphones. We're going to go through everything you need to do to get the best absolute best professional audio recording. The first thing I want to mention is the on-board microphone. This is, by default, what will be recording if you just get your camera and start recording. It's a pretty good on-board microphone. The thing is, it's not going to be nearly as good as a professional external microphone. So this is it right here, it records in stereo. If you can look down here on my screen, in the bottom right you can see levels, and you can see the levels of me talking right now, but look what happens when I'm just tapping the back of my camera. You see that? So, just little tiny like, I'm recording and I maybe hit a button or accidentally hit my camera, I'm getting those levels. That's kind of downfall with the on-board mic, it's your so close to everything you're doing that all your noise is going to be recorded. That's why we are going to be talking about using external microphones. But, first off, I'll show you a little bit more about the on-board mic before we get into these external microphones. We'll learn how to use the on-board mic as effectively as possible."
