"Hi! My name is Melissa Schenk on behalf of expertvillage.com today we’re discussing cruise traveling tips. Now we’ve discussed packing let’s get into some proper cruise etiquette because this is very important. When you’re cruising on a ship it is called a ship not a boat a ship especially your crew will get very upset if they hear you call it a boat so always refer to it as a ship that you’re traveling on. It is also referred to either a she or a her if you’re discussing the ship that you’re on perhaps in the port of call. Now when you get on a ship we’re going to talk about safety a little bit later on in the segment, you need to know your way around the ship. Now direction you’re going to get very familiar with are hearing port, port side of the ship is the left side of the ship where starboard is the right side of the ship, the aft of course is the rear and the bowel is the front of the ship. If you hear the captain talking about the bridge, now the bridge that is where the captain and the crew actually do sail from in a sailor ship and you’ll see it more towards located at the front of the ship. Couple of other things to keep in mind with proper cruise etiquette, dress properly if you’re going to formal night don’t come in a pair of jeans or also to the dinning room it’s always a good idea to perhaps have a nice pair of slacks on, ladies a skirt or a nice pair of pants. But again proper etiquette you’re traveling so you don’t necessarily want to always be in a pair of jeans unless it is the morning or the afternoon and you’re up on the top deck walking around. We’re talking mainly when you’re going into the dinning room, going into an elegant seating situation. Also keep your children close to you, a lot of times families think that they’re not going to have to keep an eye on their children because they’re on a ship, it’s free and they’re free to roam about and they won’t get into trouble. Well that simply isn’t true there are lots nukes and crannies that kids can find and some trouble that they can get into, so please do keep a close eye on your children. Also jogging time a very important thing to keep in mind is if you’re a jogger mind those times because where the ramp to jog on upstairs up on the letto deck usually it’s called, usually on about deck 9 or 10 there are floors there’s cabins right underneath the jogging ramp so people will be sleeping so if you’re jogging too early or too late you could be distracting your fellow guests aboard the cruise ship. One final thing is to save one seat not all of the seats, so if you’re going to a show or you’re going to dinner try to save one and not a whole bunch of seats. Those are few tips on proper cruise etiquette. "
