on 8/2/2008 Rule #1 & 2 Common sense and learned at Joe Blasco: Never ever blow on a makeup brush. That's just gross and not proper etiquette. Always tap your brush to remove any excess powder. And don't touch the face with your hands because your fingers have natural oils that can change the consistency of the makeup. Always use a tissue/powder puff/sponge.

on 8/2/2008 Do you know how much bacteria you transfer to a brush when you blow on it?! Not only does air come out of your mouth but lots of saliva droplets! Totally unprofessional when working on someone else. The correct thing to do is TAP the brush against the side of the eyeshadow container. Gross!

Video Transcript

"Okay for smokey or darker colors you’re going to want to use a brush with lots of bristles and they need to be kind of widely spaced. Always blow on the brush before you apply it or else the powder’s going to get all over your face. I’m just kind of applying dark to the outside of her eye and along the creases to contour it. You just want it kind of on the lash line and on the crease. And then bring it out just a little bit for a dramatic look. Blend it very very well with your finger. And to get a definition you can just take a little bit of lighter eye shadow, white, put it between the lash line and crease. "
