Summary: Learn from our expert some tips and techniques for removing the old stereo in this free how-to video on installing a new car stereo and speakers.
" Hi! This is John on behalf of expertvillage.com. In this video clip, I will be taking you through step 3 in our procedure for installing a new car stereo. Once we’ve removed our retaining screws, we can go ahead and pull our old stereo out. You will notice on the back of this stereo there is two wires going to it; one that popped out here did go to our antenna, and this other wiring grouping is our wiring harness that goes to our old stereo and it is a little tricky to get this off. There is a retaining clip that will hold that in. You can go ahead and pull that off and take your stereo out. If we take a little bit closer look at this wiring harness, we do have these retaining clips that clip this wiring harness into our stereo and the purpose of this is so that if any vibration in the car, the wiring harness does not fall out or come loose. When you do remove these, you have to pry these up. You can take a screwdriver if necessary, but sometimes you can just push on the back and raise those; just push on the back and it should pull straight out. "
