Hi! I’m Tina Buechler from Business Growth Training, I’m here today to talk about tips and techniques for hiring a new employee. In this clip I’d like to talk about thanking all of the applicants. If you’ve got to the point that you have decide who you’re going to hire, you’ve offered the position, the applicant has accepted this position and so you’ve setup a deal and now you’re prepared to move on, one very big step is to go back and thank all of the applicants for taking the time and going through the process with you. We’re often very busy at this time of course one of the things that we have when we’re hiring is more work than we have for people to do the work, so we’re tempted to forget the thank you step but remember we’re in a job market rate now where it’s an employees job market, there are more people looking to work, looking to hire than there are people taking jobs. What if this applicant doesn’t work out, what if for some reason this applicant gets a better off because they were looking at other positions and the highest turnover is in the first three months, you don’t want to loose all that work you’ve done with those other applicants. Make certain that you speak to all of the applicants most especially all of the applicants who has interviewed, thank them for their time probably even create a quick thank you letter, needs only to be 5, 6 sentences long thanking them for their time, telling them that you’re going to keep their information on file for six months should another position become available because if something else becomes available. You may have had more than one very good applicant and you don’t need to necessary go through the whole hiring process again you can go back to those applicants but if you don’t treat them respectfully and treat them well and thank them for their time and energy, then they are going to move and will not be interested in working for you. Very important step in terms of marketing your company, promoting your company and showing respect for the applicant, so make certain you take time it doesn’t take a lot of time just to write a quick thank you letter, do a quick thank you call and speak to all of the applicants who took the time to apply to your position and took their time and energy to look at the possibility of working for your company.
