Here are tips and a video to help your dog pass part nine of The Canine Good Citizen test. There are 10 parts to the Canine Good Citizen test and your dog must pass all of them. Dogs that pass the test receive a certificate from the AKC. Here are some suggestions for passing Part Nine.

      Part Nine of the Canine Good Citizen test demonstrates that your dog can handle minor distractions.

      The evaluator is looking to see what your dog's response is when there is some type of distraction while you are walking with your dog.

      During the test, the evaluator will ask you to walk your dog. As you are walking with your dog, the evaluator will drop a clipboard or a soda can as your dog walks by.

      The evaluator is checking to see if your dog will become aggressive, unruly or start to bark uncontrollably.

      You can practice by having a friend drop an item or jog by your dog as you are walking with your dog.
