Hey guys evers seen the all blacks or anyone for that matter do the haka? Ever wanted to try it? Well know you can do the haka done by the all blacks.

Tips & Warnings:

  • When slapping your knees try to get a nice loud sound :)
  • make your pupils as small as possible throughout the entire thing but especially at the end
Step1
Ka Mate! Ka Mate! Yell: ka mate ka mate pronounced "car mart aye". Slap knees once per "ka mate" then yell: ka ora ka ora pronounced "korra korra" on the first "ka ora" beat your chest and on the second reach for the sky.

For the sake of this article from now on the spelling of the maori words will be fanetic. yell: "tenny tee" and upper cut the air with your right hand. the yell: "tangata" and upper cut the air with your left hand.

puhuruhuru puhuruhuru The next step is tricky you might want to watch a video to aid you with the actions: Keep your left hand still from the upper cut you have just done and punch your left hand under it and back while yelling: "puhuru"

nanana tiki whakawhiti te ra thats the correct spelling :) nanana tiki whakawhiti te ra thats the correct spelling :) repeat the previous action but yell :nanana tiki fakafiti te ra!

upa ne! upa ne! slap your left arm and shout: "huppa" then slap your right arm and shout: "huppa" repeat slightly fast

whiti te ra hi! whiti te ra hi! reach for the sky and yell: whiti te ra put your hands on your hips put your hips put your tongue out and yell HI! pronounced hee!

on 7/17/2007 Congratulations, great thread. I love that white New Zealanders have continued and respected the Maori tradition and take part in the haka too, and why wouldn't they? I can't imagine preparing for a huge footy game, and coming face to face with a haka!! AAaaah! Could you please give us a translation of the words if thats possible?
