My name is Susan Combs and today we're going to talk about insurance billing tips. For insurance billing tips, this is usually looked at in terms of say a doctor's office that's going to be billing insurance directly. So usually with a doctor's office, a doctor's job is to be a doctor, to take care of you when you are sick or to help you with your preventative care, it's not their job to figure out the whole billing system but usually what they do is they have a billing office and so what that billing office does is if you remember when you've gone to the doctor, there is usually a sheet and the doctor marks the different services that they provided for you when you are at the doctor's office. Those actually procedures are associated with different codes. So you have the CPT codes as well as the procedural codes and the diagnostic codes. So these all have a dollar amount associated with each of them. So when the insurance biller submits these codes to the insurance company, then the doctor is going to be compensated for the services that the provided for that individual. So the best thing to do is when you are, say you are a physician and you need to find somebody that has this insurance billing background because they will actually be very well versed in this area and be able to you know, help implement systems that are going to be good for your office.
