Hi, my name is Cathy, and I'm going to show you how to insert symbols in Microsoft Word. Inserting symbols are important because they're necessary in everything that you might be typing and cannot be found in regular keyboard typing. Things such as math symbols for currency, for accents on letters in writing in other languages, or in mathematical fractions. So this is how you insert a symbol on Microsoft Word. Go to your screen and go to the insert menu. Scroll down to where you see symbol and open your symbol browser. You will see a browser that opens with many options. Depending on what you'd like to insert for an example I'll insert currency symbols and you'll get an option of different currency symbols. If you want to insert the dollar sign for example bring your mouse pointer over to the Word document, click on where you'd like to insert it, go back to the browser, click on the symbol and there you've inserted a dollar currency. If you'd like to insert another symbol for example fraction, scroll down in your symbol browser, click on fractions and you can choose your fraction here. Click on the fraction and it's already inserted at the insertion point. And that's how you insert a symbol in Microsoft Word. This is Cathy, and thanks for watching.
