Hi, Russell Berkley here, piano technician in San Diego, California. Today, we're going to talk about removing a piano leg off a Grand Piano. So to remove a piano leg off a Grand piano, you're going to need a couple of tools. You're going to need a jack in the box, something to jack the piano up and you're going to need a rubber mallet to remove the leg. The jack in the box you can get from a vender online. You open up the box, pull out the handle, tighten it and start to jack your piano up. On this particular piano the lock goes in so you need to remove the dog from the inside, the lock goes in so we're going to smack it in and then you can see the key way how it works, the dog is held here on the inside of the piano so that the leg doesn't come off once it is down on the ground. This is a different configuration for a leg. This is a bolt-on. So you remove the bolts using a socket wrench. The bottom bolt I've already loosened. So you pull out the bolt and then you pull out the top bolt and the leg is doweled in. You can see the dowels are on the piano and they go into the leg so there is no leg lock on this piano. And that's how you remove a Grand piano leg off a Grand piano. Thank you.
