Hi, everyone, I’m hairstylist Amanda Shackleton. And today, I’m here to talk to you about the temperature for straightening irons. A lot of people don’t realize that there’s a difference between the irons that you buy, say, in your local pharmacy as opposed to the irons you buy at a professional beauty supply. But, the difference is very, very apparent when you go to straighten someone’s hair. These professional irons that I use are irons that go up to 450 degrees, and it sounds like a really crazy high temperature, but if you don’t put the iron up to 450 degrees, you’re never going to get curly hair or thicker wavy hair straight. So, what I like to do when I’m straightening is let the iron get heated up, take a comb, bring the hair through the comb, and as I’m moving the comb down take my iron, which is heated to 450, and just slide it through just like that. That’ll give your hair a really really beautiful, straight look. I’m Amanda Shackleton, and I’ve just spoken to you about the temperatures for straightening irons.
