Hi, I'm Karen Lee, I'm a certified financial planner and the owner of Karen Lee and Associates and a registered representative with LPL Financial. Today, we want to answer your question, how do I request the results of any testing that I did to get life insurance? So, the first thing is, realize that when you apply for certain types of insurance, you're usually going to have to do a blood test. And this is all about how to get those results sent to you, instead of them only being used by the insurance company, to decide if they want to insure you or not. If you use an agent to apply for the life insurance, ask them how you'd go about getting copies of the results of your blood work. What we usually do is, during the application process, we send an additional letter stating that you would also like to receive a copy. Most insurance companies comply by sending a copy of that to you at home. If your agent won't do that for you, you could certainly write a letter. And if you're not using an agent, but applying for life insurance on your own. Go ahead and include a letter, requesting those results with your application to the insurance company. Some insurance companies have a rule that they will not release the results of your blood work directly to you, but only to a health care provider. So, when you write a letter or a memo goes along with your application. You might want to go include the name of the doctor that you would like the results released to, as well as an address for that doctor. You can request the results of your blood work after you've already applied for life insurance, and the policy is in force. But it's easier to request this information upon the application process. But if you've already applied and you're already covered, you can still try to send a letter to the insurance company. Requesting that the results of your blood work and your analysis get released to you personally. Hope that answered your question of how to request the results of the test I took for my life insurance.
