Hi, I'm Dave Dreeas here at Peak Performance in Phoenix, Arizona and I'm here to talk about the muscles that are activated during a concentric and eccentric portion of a pullup. When hanging on a pullup bar going from arms fully extended up, that would be your concentric portion of the pullup. When you are in the top position and you slowly lower yourself down, that would be known as the eccentric portion. The primary muscles that are activated during the concentric portion of a pullup are your trapezius, your latissimus dorsi, your rhomboids, your deltoids and your teres major. The same muscles are engaged to a certain degree during the eccentric portion of the pullup. Hopefully that gives you an idea of some of the muscles that are activated during the concentric and eccentric portion of a pullup. I'm Dave here at Peak Performance in Phoenix, Arizona. Thanks for watching.
