Hey, welcome back to the Cave Camp. I'm Coach PJ at CPJ Fitness in San Diego, California. Today, I'm going to show you a gym exercise that will work the waist and the abdomen. Okay. So, today, I'm going to show you the exercise that will engage not only our waist but also our abdomen and our core and our abs. So, with the dual cable unit system like this, I will put a grip on there, lace my fingers; we're on the lower end of the cable unit first. We call this wood choppers. This time I will be doing, demonstrating a low to high movement. You want your legs wide, arms extended, laced fingers. You're going to come down low, bending the knees and let that cable stretch you towards the cable. Then, as you come up on your stroke, you're going to come diagonally across the body and take it across to the opposite shoulder. This is your movement and then as you get down and you get the movement down, you can speed it up. And if you do enough of these, quick enough, you're going to feel the burn in the core. The rotation engages the waist in the hips, also the abs, all the way around the core muscles. The other variation is that we raise the cable unit handle to the top range. Same alignment, arms are extended, fingers are laced and this time we're taking our stroke from the top down to the bottom, just like this. And these are downward wood choppers. Twisting the trunk and whipping that cable down. Keep the arms away from the body, really engages the core and you work with a comfortable resistance. This will attack the whole core, the waist, abs, stomach. And then, once you get the movement, you speed it up. And that is a great way to chisel the gristle in the mid-section. Good luck. Once again, I'm Coach PJ at CPJ Fitness in San Diego and I just showed you a gym exercise that will work the waist and the abdomen.
