This is Leroy Moore with Relentless Performance. Today, we're going to address the butt and we're going to do it with the deadlift. When you walk up to the bar you want your feet shoulder-width apart and move your shins all the way up to where they are touching the bar. You want your hands right outside your shins, one in an overhand grip, one in an underhand grip. For that position you want to lift your hips up high, lift your chest up and let the bar travel straight up your legs and into the standing position like this, shoulders back, hips forward, proper, you want to go back down the same way, let the weight travel down your legs, hips up. To avoid back injury make sure you keep your butt up, lower back flat. When you do deadlifts, a big key is weight, don't go too heavy where it's so heavy that you cannot move the weight or strain to but don't go so light that you forget to use good form. Form is the key to prevent injuries. Common injuries are lower back injuries and sometimes hip injuries but the lower back is the most common injury so nail your form, don't be too aggressive at first, but use the proper weight. This is Leroy with Relentless Performance. We just did deadlifts and we addressed your butt, it better be sore.
