Hi, I'm Dr. Laurinda Kwan from the Arizona Natural Health Center. Most medications that attempt to treat the symptoms of allergies such as antihistamines can cause drowsiness and unwanted side effects. I'm going to talk about a system of medicine hundreds of years old called homeopathy. Homeopathy is a safe and extremely effective natural treatment for cat allergies, allergic reactions simply mean that the body's immune system is out of balance and is having an overreaction to something in the environment such as cat dander. Homeopathy helps to balance the immune system to function more healthfully and to reduce allergies towards cats. A homeopathic medicine is chosen based on your individual allergy symptoms. This often provides quick relief of allergic symptoms without the use of conventional antihistamines or cortical steroids and without the drowsy side effects. If you're having allergies to cats right now try one of these homeopathic remedies according to your symptoms. For example, you may need Allium cepa if you have a very runny nose, nasal discharge that's irritating to the skin, often the area around your nose is sore, your eyes maybe watering, but opposite to your nose the tears are non-burning. Euphrasia is the opposite of Allium sepa, you have bland nasal discharge non-irritating to the skin but your eyes are burning and watering. You may need Nux Vomica if your nose is alternately stuffed up outdoors or at night and running indoors and in the daytime. If you need Sabadilla you have lots of sneezing with a runny nose and watery eyes, and another common homeopathic medicine used to treat allergies is Wyethia that relieves irritating itching behind the nose and the roof of the mouth. Take the remedy every 2 to 4 hours depending on the severity of your symptoms more often for more intense symptoms. If in 24 hours you do not see an improvement try a different remedy. There are books you can purchase that can be helpful for finding the right medicine but if you're interested in getting rid of chronic allergies all together it's best to see a doctor trained in prescribing homeopathic medicines. I'm Dr. Laurinda Kwan from the Arizona Natural Health Center talking to you today about how to relieve allergy to cats.
