Hello, my name is Dr. Stacy Mobley. I'm a naturopathic physician. I take pride in blending the best of mainstream and natural therapies to help you transform your health, re-energize your life and renew your mind. Today we're going to talk about the causes of liver spots otherwise known as aging spots. They are created due to the acceleration of melanin which gives your skin it's natural coloring under the epidermis or the top most layer of your skin. Once the melanin is over produced it clumps in a particular area and this is what gives you excess coloring in a darker spot than other areas of your skin. The areas that are more prone to liver spots tend to be areas that have more exposure to sunlight. So now let's talk about the four direct causes of liver spots, one being excessive exposure to UV sunlight, two being commercial tanning beds, three a diet lower in antioxidant status, four being genetics. People with fairer skin combining with excessive sunlight exposure, tend to be a little bit higher risk for developing liver or aging spots. I'm Dr. Stacy Mobley. I take pride in treating the whole person using treatment options that are right for you. Visit my website to learn more about me and my practice at Dr. spelled Drstacymobley.com.
