This is really a big and complex subject, but we'll try to get it into a small presentation. Fundamental analysis is how stocks are analyze for long term holdings. They look at things like price earning ratios, balance sheets, other fundamentals. Fundamental analysis is the classical way of selecting stock for long term holdings. But, it has variable accuracy especially since corporate fundamentals change overtime. Look for strong and popular product lines, good conservative balance sheet, lots of cash on the balance sheet, competent management, but most of all, look for growth. Revenue growth is what the stock market pays up for. It's where most of the money is made. Beware of value traps, big company stocks that look cheap but are having a lot of current business difficulty.
