Hi, I'm Benjamin Lupu, certified financial planner of Kensington AMI registered investment adviser with stock picking strategies for long and short hedge funds. This is really a complex subject. Hedge funds use algorithms, technical and fundamental methods to determine their picks for their portfolios. Long short hedge funds are ostensibly hedge funds that try to buy what is going up and at the same time, sell short what is going down. They often guess wrong but sometimes they do pretty well also. They charge big fees for what they do and investors seem to like their technology. One hint, the research done by hedge funds on short sales, those stocks that they expect to go down tend to have a much better batting average than those stocks that they expect to go up. This is as I say, a complex subject worth looking into and doing your homework on. With stock-picking strategies for long and short hedge funds, I'm Benjamin Lupu, certified financial planner of Kensington AMI Registered Investment Adviser.
