Welcome back to the Cave Camp. I'm Coach PJ at CPJ Fitness in San Diego, California for eHow.com. Today, I'm going to show you how to use a step to work the hamstrings. Now I'm going to demonstrate using a step to build the hamstrings. You can all take the size of the step and how high the higher you go with the step, the harder the hamstring is going to work but this is about a medium grade step. When you plant your foot on there make sure your whole foot is on the platform. You don't want the heel hanging off, okay. Do not have that heel off, you want it forward. So you have complete control and a nice firm base. You're going to step up, drive this leg, put all your 100% weight on this leg and it's going to drive and then you can explode the other leg up and do it hip height. So using the step is going to make the hamstring have to work a little harder. So you're going to drive up. You can do 5 to 10 reps, switch legs, same thing. My foot is all the way on the step. There's nothing hanging off the edge. So you have a good base and just plant your foot, plant your weight and just drive it up, 5 to 10 reps, do three sets. It's your call. It's a good hamstring burner. Once again I'm Coach PJ at CPJ Fitness in San Diego, California for eHow.com. I just demonstrated how to use a step for your hamstrings.
