Hi, my name is Tenisha, and today I'm going to show you how to do the pump, also known as the pompadour for girls. So she has bangs in the front and we're just going to work around that. It doesn't mean you can't do the hairstyle and what you're going to need today basically is a comb, a teasing brush and a regular brush and some hairspray. We're going to take the hair from we'll say the middle of your head which is your apex, the highest point of your head and we're going to part down into a triangle and I'm going to seclude the area that I'm going to pump for you. So we're going to make this into the pump and we're going to take the back and we're going to put it in a simple ponytail. So what you're going to do is you're going to take your hairspray or spritz and we'll spray it a little bit just to make it sticky so that when you tease it it stays. Okay, you want to take your teasing brush and you're going to tease in layers, teasing also known as back combing, section it, small sections, tease, tease, tease, tease, from the bottom, make a nice tight tease or tight back comb. You're going to do that throughout the front layer of the hair. Don't be afraid to tease. Now the cool thing with this hairstyle is you could bring a regular outfit to have fashion, in a couple of minutes just because of the hairstyle alone. So now what you're going to do is you're going to take it, twist it, secure it with a pin depending on the length of your hair. Once you've secured it, because her bangs are short, it will just take a little bit of extra spray. You're going to gently comb over, not all the way through because you don't want to remove all the tease. A very easy way to maneuver the hair without using your hands is to use the tail end of your teasing brush and pull it up, getting any flyaways and then the back you can take the excess hair, lightly, very lightly brush it. You don't want to remove your pins, take the back of the hair, you can put it up in a high ponytail or whatever you feel most comfortable with, secure your ponytail and there you have it, your pump, your pompadour, whatever you want to call it. My name is Tenisha, and I've showed you how to do the pump today.
