Hi, I'm Erin Hendley professional makeup artiest, and today I'm going to show you how to use makeup cakes. So as we know in the industry there are different forms of eye makeups and one can be creams, one can be powders and then we also have out cakes. Cakes are similar to creams, but the only one difference is that the cakes need to be liquid activated. So you can use any kind of facial spray or you can water. So what we're going to do is black liner that is a cake base and we are just going to spray a little bit of liquid on it and as we know we need to use a brush with our cake makeup so we're just going to go with just a little bit of water mixed in with it and apply our liner. This can be used as a base for your eyeshadow too. The eye liner is probably the most common too when it comes to the cake. Cakes are heavy so it's important to get the proper water to cake ratio, we don't want it to be washed out and we don't want it to be clumpy, so just experiment with the ratio, it might take a few times to get it down. The good thing about the cake liner is that it is long lasting and although it was liquid activated it can dry to be quite water resistant, how ironic. It gives great color pay off too. I'm Erin Hendley, and I just showed you how to use cake makeup.
