Hey there, my name is Jay Jones, Celebrity Peak Performance Coach and Fitness Minister. And today, we want to talk about, "Are jumping jacks as effective as running?" Jumping jacks and running. Jumping jacks and running, two very good cardiovascular exercises, but two very different cardiovascular exercises. Now, jumping jacks are what we call anaerobic. You do big burst of exercises without a long period of endurance. Running on the other hand gives us a different type of cardio experience. We call it anaerobic experience, where we have to use a lot of oxygen and a longer endurance exercise. So, to put it in a nutshell, depending upon what your goals are, if you're looking to just get your heart rate increase for short, short burst of cardio conditioning, jumping jacks are great. But, in the long haul, you're going to still have to get your run on. You're going to have to go out and expand your lungs by full cardio conditioning.
