Hi, my name is Matthew Pierce. I'm a Software Engineer and today, I'd like to talk with you about how to open a Visio file in Draw. Now, Visio is an application that is written by Microsoft. It's a graphic program for doing flowcharts and diagrams and things like that. Now, Draw is a similar program that's part of the OpenOffice or LibreOffice SWIK. Now, Visio saves its files natively in a .vsd format which are proprietary to Microsoft. It's not a, as, a type of file that Draw can open. However, you can save the file in Visio in a different format other than its .vsd. When you save it, you say save as and then you pick a file type in here that allows lots of different types of file types. Just pick one that Draw also can understand. I believe it can do Windows Bitmap or Metafiles. It, it can, there's a, a whole list of files here it can use. And then, after you do that, you can open the file up in Draw by saying, "Open", and then, you pick the file type and as you can see here, this is the Office, the OpenOffice whole list of files. You want to scroll down to the Drawing files down here, you can see that it does a lot of the, like there's Windows Metafiles. I saw that in Visio. You can save those Windows Metafile and Draw can open it as a Windows Metafile. So, that is how you can do that. You can't open the files directly in, in Draw from Visio, but you can take and use Visio to save it in a format that Draw can understand and open. I'm Mattew Pierce, today we talked about opening Visio files in Draw. Thank you for watching.
