Hi, my name is Mathew Pierce. I'm a software engineer, and today we're going to talk about opening .BAS or .B-A-S files. Now, .BAS files or B-A-S, those are basic programming language files that contain instructions that the basic program interpreter uses. It's just a list of instructions, and they're usually stored in ASCII format. So, you can open them up with any text editor that you have and view them, but you could also go out and search on the web for free basic development environment and come up with all sorts of these wonderful free tools that you can use to open the basic files and look at them. For instance, you go to this website, right here, Free Basic Programming Tools, you see you got basic IDEs, and interpreters. It's a wide variety of stuff. So, all the stuff is free, freely available. You can use it to open, view, edit, save the files, whatever you want to do. So, it's really easy to access these files. However, you may have problems with Visual Basic, using Microsoft Visual Basic if it's a version that doesn't know about it, but there's a good chance they can open it, too, if you have that.
