Hi, my name is Abbeth. I'm an artist out of Portland, Maine, and I'm going to show you how to use thick paint out of a tube with a palette knife. So first, I'm going to squeeze out a blob of red onto my palette and then I'm going to squeeze out a blob of yellow onto my palette. Now when you're painting with a palette knife, don't expect to get the same effect that you do with a brush. It's going to be much kind of more abstract and choppy looking but you can use the tip of your palette knife to get fine details or the edge of your palette knife if you slide it on your palette like this to pick up the paint. You can use the edge to get lines, sharp lines like that or you can use the underside of your palette knife to create texture and something sort of similar to brush strokes or you can use the entire underside to create large even areas of color which is really what a palette knife is best for, just spreading on even color like that. My name is Abbeth, and I just showed you how to paint with a palette knife.
