Hi, my name is Mathew Pierce. I'm a software engineer and today I'd like to talk with you about opening .HEX files. Now .HEX files or HEX files are files that contain configuration data. It's a lot of miscellaneous information that programs use, you know, just to hold just miscellaneous data and really they come in two flavors, one is a binary HEX file which is the data is a format that you can't view with a text editor and the other one is basically an Ascii HEX file where each of the characters in the file are viewable with a text editor. Now the characters are digits, 0 through F. It's hexadecimal is what HEX is short for and hexadecimal is a base 16 number system which uses digits 0 through F instead of our regular decimal system which uses 0 through 9 but there are just a lot of tools out there that you can use to open and edit HEX files. There's like Hex edit, it's free, there's another HEX editor, XVI 32. You can even use Microsoft Visual Studio to open and edit the binary HEX files and if it's an Ascii HEX file well you can use anything like Notepad or Wordpad, you know Microsoft Word, whatever and basically any of these tools are available on Windows, Mac and Linux and they are free. I mean there's just so much stuff out there to open and edit the HEX files that you really should have no problem at all finding anything to open and edit them with. So I'm Mathew Pierce. Today we talked about editing and opening HEX files. Thanks for watching.
