Welcome, this is HR That Works President, Don Phin, and today I'm going to answer the question what's the difference between administrative HR and managerial HR. You know, these are fine line distinctions depending on an organization you might be an HR manager and have plenty of administrative duties but if you're just administrative HR and solely that you're either at a small company that doesn't understand the benefits of the HR opportunity and just has somebody like a CFO or a bookkeeper managing the benefits and managing payroll, that's administrative type HR, you're managing data. Unfortunately that's where most companies stop. Now once you get larger we get more towards strategic efforts so somebody who is an HR manager, theoretically is doing more than just administrative duties they are also helping to hire great employees, get them to perform well, retain them, educate them, make sure you deal with compliance, make sure you motivate people, make sure they play team. So when we think administrative, we're thinking somebody who just manages data and when we're thinking somebody more managerial like any manager, they're there to help grow the company and that's probably the primary distinction between those two roles, one is viewed as somebody who helps to grow the company, somebody else is just somebody who manages data and expense. Hope that helps you and I hope you get into managerial HR. Take care.
