Hi, I'm David Simonsen with I'm a Marriage and Family Therapist, and so I get asked a lot of times when I'm working with couples, how can we make our relationship not boring? We just have been married so many years, we don't have anything in common and what I find is that couples that don't have anything in common is actually not true. Couples actually do have things in common, they just have not paid a lot of attention to their relationship, things like video games, things like sports, things like kids, things like soccer game for kids get in the way of couples spending quality time with one another. So what I encourage couples to do is what are the things that drew you to one another in the very beginning of your relationship? Remember those times when you could talk for hours on the phone and you think how could we ever have talked for hours on the phone? I don't know about you, but I used to talk for hours on the phone with my wife, and I'm so confused at times on what we talked about but I know we did it. And so I think what couples need to do, they need to go back to the beginning and look at the things that kept them together, things such as going for walks in the park, a husband planning a romantic evening, a wife surprising the husband with a romantic evening, anything and everything would work. Get crazy, get creative, those are the things that are going to help you not be bored in your relationship. If you don't do those things, well it's no wonder you're going to be bored and you're going to end up divorced most likely. I'm David Simonsen with Help For Life.
