Hi, I'm Karl Romain of Edgewater Kung Fu, and SifuRomain.com. Today, I'll be introducing you to Merissa Pico, who'll be teaching you punching techniques from TaeKwon-Do. Hi, my name is Merissa Pico. I'm a four-time U.S. National Team Member, and a 2012 Olympic hopeful. In this video, I'll be showing you a commonly used punching technique used in TaeKwon-Do sparring. So, you want to cover - make sure your cover is strong so they don't kick you and reach your chest guard. And then, at the same time, just lean forward to make sure you hit them with the punch, and kick. So, a cover punch is a defensive technique that sets up an offensive attack. So, Master Romain is going to kick, I'm going to block with this hand, and at the same time I'm punching him to keep him off balance and come with my own kick. That's a cover punch used commonly in TaeKwon-Do. I'm Merissa Peco. I train at Team USA TaeKwon-Do Fitness in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Thank you for joining me. KARL: Thank you, Merissa. I'm Karl Romain of SifuRomain.com, and Edgewater Kung Fu.
