Hi, I'm Karl Romain of Edgewater Kung Fu, and I'll be introducing you to Merissa Pico, who'll be teaching you how to stall in karate sparring. Hi, my name is Merissa Peco. I'm a four-time U.S. National Team member, and a 2012 Olympic hopeful. In this video, I'll be demonstrating how to stall in TaeKwon-Do sparring. Okay, one way to stall in TaeKwon-Do sparring is just to keep the distance between you and your opponent, because you don't want to engage in any kicks so they don't score on you. So, as he comes, I just want to move back, move back, and just keep the space so he doesn't kick me. And, the second way is, if he comes, just to shut him down and go into a clench, and wait for the referee to break us up, which also wastes a lot of time. But, an important thing to remember when you're stalling is you still want to look engaged in the fight, because if the referee thinks you're delaying the match, they'll give you a warning. So, that's how to stall a match in TaeKwon-Do. I'm Merissa Pico. I train at Team USA TaeKwon-Do Fitness in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Thank you for joining me. KARL: Thank you, Merissa. I'm Karl Romain of, and Edgewater Kung Fu.
