As a child, you may have looked at your parents' wedding photos and wished you could have been part of the ceremony. For many children that wish is fulfilled when their mom decides to get married for a second time. Whether you choose to participate in the planning of your mom's second wedding or not, you can still give her a wedding gift that makes her wedding day even more special.
Since planning a wedding is often a stressful task, help your mom relax the day before her wedding by treating her to a day of pampering at a spa. Pay for her to get a full body massage as well as a manicure and pedicure. She may also appreciate you treating to get her hair styled for her big day.
Although her wedding dress is likely to be the most important part of her wardrobe on the big day, a beautiful pair of shoes to match her dress can make a great gift. Offer to pay for the dress shoes she plans to wear during the ceremony or buy her a pair of casual shoes she can wear during her honeymoon.
Your mom may appreciate romantic lingerie she can wear after her wedding. Some appropriate items to give her include a long lace nightgown or short silk robe. Keep your mom's personality and age in mind when deciding what type of lingerie she will enjoy. If your mom is not the lingerie type, a fleece robe with matching slippers is also a thoughtful gift idea.
A pair of earrings is a wedding gift your mom can enjoy during and after the ceremony. Choose a pair of earrings that best fit her personality and the occasion. Some ideas include a pair of pearl, gold, diamond or gemstone studs or dangling earrings. A matching necklace or bracelet is also a thoughtful gift.
Give your mom and her future husband the confidence to tackle any dance during their reception with private dance lessons. Many dance companies offer special wedding lessons for dances commonly performed at weddings, such as ballroom, swing and Latin dancing. Present her with the dance lessons a few months in advance so the couple will have time to learn each dance.
Digital Photo Frame
Instead of giving your mom a scrapbook or photo album as a keepsake, you may consider giving her a digital photo frame. A digital photo frame allows your mom to conveniently display all her favorite photos from her wedding day. Although these photo frames vary by brand and price, they typically include features like a 7- to 10-inch screen, built-in memory card slots, JPEG picture format support, transition effects and a slideshow mode.
