Bath salts are inexpensive, easy to make and perfect for holidays or party favors. Thoughtfully presenting your bath salts will highlight the color and texture of your salt grains. Consider usability and aesthetics when choosing your bath salt containers and don't be afraid to get creative.
Delicate glass bottles filled with scented bath salts make an attractive accent to any bathroom. Small bottles are available at most major craft stores and come in a variety of sizes and shapes. Choose a whimsical, curvy, glass bottle or the more traditional cylindrical option, depending on the personality of the user. Coordinate the color of the bottle with the scent of bath salt, such as a pink glass bottle filled with rose scented salts. Chunkier grained bath salts won't pour easily from a delicate bottleneck, so consider the size of your salt grains when choosing a bottle.
A jar offers the avid bath salt user more storage capacity. Pair your jar with a small wooden scoop to collect and distribute the salts. An ideal bath salt jar is short, wide and made of clay or glass. An important feature of any bath salt jar is a mouth large enough to accommodate the small scoop. Seal the top of your storage jar with either a twist-top lid or a flat piece of cork. Add a decorative touch to your bath salt jar by tying a strand of ribbon around the lip of the lid.
Pour scoops of scented or unscented bath salts into small cellophane bags. Unlike cloth or mesh, the water-proof quality of cellophane protects the salts from splashing or humidity. Choose bags with a flat bottom to prevent accidental spilling. Use clear bags with ribbons similarly colored to the bath salts. Fill two-thirds of the bag with bath salts, include a small spoon in the bag and secure the top with a twist tie and a ribbon.
