French Braid Styles for Kids

French Braid Styles for Kids thumbnail

No matter your child's hair texture, French braids are easy to create and maintain. Using this special braiding technique, you can ensure that your child's hair remains neat and in place until its time for the next shampoo, even overnight. Furthermore, the versatility of French braids will enable you to create a number of different styles. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Pigtails

    • Pigtails are a classic and simple French braid style. French braided pigtails can be created by parting your child's hair down the middle and simply braiding the hair into two braids straight back. The French braids can be secured with a rubber band or ribbon.

    Mini braids

    • Create multiple rows of French braids to create a unique look for your child. Start by French braids at the edges of your child's head and working inward towards the middle of the scalp. If you would like to preserve this style for a number of days, keep in mind that the smaller the braids, the longer the style will last.

    Partial braids

    • If you would like to place your child's hair in a ponytail or other style while in French braids, try braiding only the top half of your child's hair. To begin, part your child's across the middle of her head and separate the top and bottom halves of hair. Then, create multiple French braids in the top half of the hair, leaving the bottom half of hair loose. Braids can be secured with mini rubber band that are the same color as your child's hair. This style will allow you to create a number of versatile styles while your child's hair is French braided.

    Single side braid

    • Single side braids are appropriate for all ages and easy to create. Simply brush your child's hair in the direction you would like the braid to go in starting from the top of one side to the bottom of the other. Braid your child's hair as in the same direction you brushed it and secure the end with a band.
