Things to Put in Your Garage

Save

The most obvious thing to put in your garage is your car, but you may want to use your garage for a variety of other activities. Whether attached to or detached from your home, a garage space is a blank slate where you can extend the living space of your home or create a functional getaway.

Organizational System

  • Install an organizational system in your garage to take advantage of extra storage space. Cabinets, shelves, hooks and overhead racks create organized storage space that will not interfere with your automobile. Something as simple and inexpensive as a pegboard attached to one wall will provide a place to hang cleaning equipment and tools.

Workout Equipment

  • Transform your garage or a section of your garage into a home gym with workout equipment and a wall mirror. You can put things in the garage that take up too much space inside your home, such as a treadmill or weights and a weight bench.

Gaming and Entertainment Equipment

  • A pool table, ping pong table, sofa and entertainment center are things you can put in a garage to create a gaming and entertainment room. You may not have room for a vehicle, but you can section other areas of the garage for additional entertainment to include a bar or workout equipment.

Craft Paraphernalia

  • Put things like a craft table, drawing board, a paint rack and a cabinet to store craft supplies in the garage to create a section for crafting. Working in a designated craft room or space can help channel your creative energies. You can also keep all of your supplies in one place for optimum organization.

Woodworking Supplies

  • A work table, a circular saw, a drill press and a large toolbox are a few of the things woodworkers can put in their garage. Tools and equipment for working with wood are often too large and too dangerous to place inside the home, especially if you have children. Working with wood can also be messy and is better suited to a garage or outdoor space.

Toys

  • Turn the garage into a playroom with interlocking rubber floor tiles and bright colors on the walls. Put toys and toy storage bins in the garage playroom to give the kids a place where they can be kids without disrupting other living areas.
