Ideas for a My Little Pony Birthday Party

The My Little Pony universe is awash in bright, bold colors, and any My Little Pony-themed birthday party should be a similar feast for the eyes. To bring the spirit of popular pony characters such as Rainbow Dash and Twilight Sparkle to your birthday bash, fill your party space with rainbow decor and sweet colorful treats.

Invitations and Favors

  • To make custom pony-shaped invitations, look for My Little Pony stencils at a local toy store, or search for free stencil images in your local library or even on the Internet that you can copy or print. Trace the pony stencils onto construction paper or heavy card stock; then cut around the stencils. Color in eyes, manes and tails with magic markers or paint using the colors of your favorite little pony, such as pink and purple or rainbow stripes. Add glitter glue for a little extra pony sparkle on your cards, and deliver them in envelopes or small boxes filled with colorful confetti. For party favors, make gift bags full of My Little Pony goodies, such as stickers, pencils, coloring books or small plastic figurines. Or give gift bags full of colorful candy, like jelly beans, rainbow gumballs and lollipops.

Party Decor

  • Use rainbow-patterned paper plates and napkins on a tablecloth in a bold, bright color like hot pink or purple. Fill colored glass jars with bright flowers such as purple geraniums, morning glories and pink peonies to use as centerpieces and table accents. Make rainbow clouds out of bunches of colored tissue paper to hang above doorways, and tie bright-colored balloons to chairs. Set out My Little Pony toys on serving tables and side tables, and sprinkle all the tables with glitter and colorful confetti.

Food and Drink

  • Create a rainbow birthday cake in which every layer is a different color; then top the cake with edible confetti sprinkles and a My Little Pony cake topper. Make cookies with ponies made out of icing and cupcakes with pink frosting and candy hearts on top. Set out colorful dishes full of colorful candy, such as pink jelly beans, purple gumballs and blue taffy. For tje main course, serve individual pizzas or calzones, and let the kids wash everything down with glasses of ruby red punch or pink grapefruit juice.

Entertainment and Attire

  • Have the party-goers play dress-up with a table full of My Little Pony accessories. Make pony tails out of colored yarn or crepe paper that the kids can tie around their waists, and have all the guests make their own magic wand and top it with a glittery star. Next, bring out a pinata shaped like a pony and let kids take turns whacking it with a plastic bat. Play a game of "pin the tail on the pony" using a cardboard cutout of a My Little Pony doll and a frilly tail made of colorful crepe paper, and give the winner a small My Little Pony doll or book as a prize.
