Home Remedies for an Overnight Acne Fix
Acne is typically considered an adolescent malady, yet pimples can plague adults well into their 40s. An inflammatory skin disorder, acne has a variety of causes, including hormonal changes, genetics and stress, and has also been attributed to a diet high in sugar and fats. For those times when a pimple suddenly appears, a few home remedies can ensure that you wake up with an acne-free face, ready to face the day. Does this Spark an idea?
-
Toothpaste
-
Applying a dab of white toothpaste directly onto the pimple can dry it out overnight. For best results, use a toothpaste that does not contain whitening agents or fluoride, both of which can cause irritation to the skin. The toothpaste can be rinsed off in the morning.
Lavender Oil
-
Lavender oil has antibiotic and antiseptic properties that work well for killing germs and stimulating new cell growth. Use a cotton ball to dab a little lavender oil on pimples and they will be dried up in the morning. Lavender oil will also keep pimples away longer.
-
Apple Cider Vinegar
-
Mix one part apple cider vinegar and 10 parts water and dab the mixture on the affected area at night. Apple cider vinegar is highly astringent, so it will quickly dry up acne.
Tree Tree Oil
-
Tea tree oil is a natural antiseptic with many uses, including treating acne. It can be used full strength, unless redness occurs, in which case it should be diluted with water. Apply it to the pimple using a cotton ball before you go to bed and reapply it three times a day as necessary to completely get rid of the pimple.
Honey
-
Honey has long been used to treat skin conditions, such as tightening pores and soothing irritations. Dabbing raw honey on a pimple will dry it up quickly.
Baking Soda
-
When all else fails or you do not have any other ingredients, make a thick paste of baking soda and water and apply it to the pimple. The baking soda will dry up the pimple overnight.
