Causes of Blendtec Noise

Save

Blendtec blenders are powerful, compact and can make anything from smoothies to ice cream. One of the main drawbacks of the brand is the noise level of the blender. Some Blendtecs have a sound enclosure available to minimize the noise level, but some of the blenders are not compatible with the current enclosures available, according to Blendtec's website. Some causes of noise are controllable while others are unavoidable with this blender.

Horsepower and Amps

  • Blendtec blenders are more powerful than other brands, with more horsepower and amps, resulting in more noise; this is unavoidable. Some sound from the powerful components of the blender is diminished by use of a sound enclosure, but there are some blenders in the series, like the EZ Blender, that do not have an enclosure available.

Hard Objects

  • Hard objects, like ice, can cause noise in the Blendtec blender. Since liquid is not necessary before placing ice, or other hard objects similar to ice, in the blender, the noise level is louder than other blenders, which require liquid with the ice to work properly. Ice and hard objects are loud when they rattle around in a blender and there is no way to avoid the problem.

Damage

  • Like any other blender, if a Blendtec is damaged, there can be even more noise. The noise in a damaged Blendtec will typically sound different than the normal noise of the blender. The normal noise is loud due to the power of the blender or the objects in the blender. If the blender is damaged, there may more noise---or possibly even less---or the noise will sound much different from the normal sounds of the blender.
