Although Thanksgiving dinners are usually spent surrounded by family while eating a home cooked meal, there are some that choose to dine out instead. Even though most restaurants are closed on the holiday, there are some that offer shortened hours for diners to enjoy a meal without the hassle of preparing it. The Sioux Falls area offers residents the option to either stay in for Thanksgiving or to dine out.
Bob's Cafe was established in Sioux Falls in 1944 and was originally known as Pickle Palace. The restaurant became Bob's Cafe in 1951 and is best known for its Genuine Broaster Chicken. In addition to the chicken, Bob's Cafe serves ribs, fish, burgers, side items and desserts. A breakfast menu plus catering services also are available. Two locations are available in the city of Sioux Falls for diners to choose from. As of 2010, the restaurant is open until 5 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day for pre-booked orders.
