Disney Wedding Theme Table Ideas

Couples have a variety of options to incorporate their affection for Disney films, characters, songs and settings when planning their wedding table décor. They can use mutual interests, such as Disney-related animals, music or travel, to narrow their choice, or pick a film or character couple that holds special meaning for their relationship. However, to keep the reception from resembling a children's party, colors and centerpieces should provide just a subtle hint of the chosen Disney theme.

Favorite Films

  • Decorate each table to represent one of the more than 400 Disney productions, or use one film as an overall theme. When highlighting one film, name tables after its characters. For a theme that celebrates the entire Disney vault, each table could carry a movie name. "Alice in Wonderland" table ideas include teapots as vases, clocks and red heart cards or confetti to represent the Queen of Hearts. Red-apple centerpieces set on mirrors hint at a "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" theme, as do candle-holding lanterns with faux diamonds strewn alongside to recognize the dwarfs. For "Beauty and the Beast," arrangements of books, red roses and candelabras are tasteful with a blue and gold color scheme, while snowmen, snowflakes and white branches can reflect a winter wedding's "Frozen" theme.

Couples and Characters

  • Table themes can focus on your favorite Disney couples or individual characters. Gold, green and cream work well for a Robin Hood and Maid Marian table -- arrange green ivy down the center of the table with a centerpiece of cream-colored flowers and pheasant feathers, candelabras or pewter goblets. The same colors suit Pocahontas and John Smith tables, which could be decorated with white birch logs, pine, a teepee or a canoe. Jewel tones of purple, teal and gold complement Aladdin and Princess Jasmine tables decked with oil lamps or Moroccan-styled lantern centerpieces on tapestry-like table runners. Silver adds a touch of glamor to a Cinderella table. Make an arrangement using small silver pumpkins placed on a bed of silver-sprayed Spanish moss in clear sorbet dishes.

Meaningful Locations

  • Beach lovers may prefer to use hints of "The Little Mermaid" for their reception table décor with artistic displays that use sand, seashells, driftwood and candles placed atop fishnet table runners. Tropical flowers, palm leaves and vines arranged with a coin-and jewel-filled treasure chest can evoke an island setting that hints at Disney's "Pirates of the Caribbean." Eiffel tower replicas and fleur-de-lis arranged with flowers and candles give a Parisian flavor for fans of "Hunchback of Notre Dame," while Union Jacks, tea sets and miniature umbrellas tie London to "Mary Poppins." "Mulan" can portray a couple's enthusiasm for China or Asia using cherry blossoms, silk fans, and bamboo elements in the centerpieces.

Shared Interests

  • Dog lovers can theme their reception after Disney films with canine stars such as "Beverly Hills Chihuahua," "101 Dalmatians" and "Lady & the Tramp." Simple floral centerpieces with a silver dog bone tied with a ribbon in your chosen color prevent a cartoony feel. Table cards can be dog tags or silhouettes of the appropriate dog breed labelled with the movie name. Invite guests to sit with Pongo and Perdita's "101 Dalmatians," or join Trusty, Boris and Jock with "Lady and the Tramp." If you both love music, decorate your tables with gold, silver or white instruments, clef signs and musical notes that complement colorful florals, then assign a famous Disney tune such as "You've Got a Friend in Me," "Bella Note" and "Can You Feel the Love Tonight?" to each. Miniature song sheets, or piano silhouettes on miniature music stands could serve as table cards identifying the assigned song.
