Black panthers make for interesting tattoos to represent many things ranging from your political ideology to your musical preference or maybe just to show how much you like or relate to panthers. While you should take the time to research panther images, photographs or other tattoos, there are a few common styles of black panther tattoos.

Sports Team Logos

A number of teams in sports ranging from hockey to football, use stylized images of panthers to represent their team. Use one of these logos as a subtler method of declaring your lifelong loyalty to the team without having to wear the colors or paint your face for games. Logos tend to look best when presented accurately without secondary additions, like flames. They are meant to be simple and stand alone.

Black Panther Party

The Black Panther Party was a US political movement by African Americans in the 1960s and 1970s that promoted armed protest to defend civil rights, and defend all people and their equality. They used a black panther, presented as if running to slash at and bite the observer as a representation of their political position and beliefs. While the symbol was mostly used as a logo, some members and even current supporters of the ideals represented by the party have tattooed themselves with the panther. They usually place it on the chest.

Asian & Realistic Presentations

Black panthers are popular in Asian-styled or themed tattoos and are usually represented in large tattoos with other things like plants and animals. You'll sometimes see them stalking along bamboo on a woman's back or twining around an ankle like a cat. Realistic panther tattoos range in style from elegant, delicate designs to large, gory pieces that may take up the whole back.
