What Effects Does Adobe Premiere Pro Have? thumbnail
Premiere Pro offers industry-standard effects for your video or film production.

Adobe Premiere Pro comes packaged with a menagerie of different effects for your video project. If you can't find what you need in the included effects, third party plug-ins expand the effects library to suit your specific needs. Since Premiere is also compatible with Adobe After Effects, installing both programs gives you access to even more effects and editing options. Premiere Pro filters effects into three categories; video, audio and transitions.

  1. Video Effects

    • Premiere's included video effects allow you to change the video color, speed, shape, chroma, balance, luminescence, transparency, orientation and other basic properties.

    Audio Effects

    • Included audio effects can change an audio track's volume, reverb, echo and balance. They also create equalizer profiles, remove noise and pops, mix tracks and edit other audible properties.

    Transition Effects

    • Transition effects are the visual markers between video clips; Premiere includes many different transition options. Transitions can assume many geometric shapes, from squares and circles to stars and other complex designs. Wipes can shift the clip from any direction; other transitions include pixel wipes, checkerboards, radial wipes, fades, dissolves and additive dissolves.

    After Effects

    • Since both Premiere Pro and After Effects are part of the Adobe Creative Suite, many systems with Premiere installed also have After Effects. After Effects works seamlessly with Premiere in project transfers, and greatly expands the effects available for your project. After Effects adds 3D rendering, rotoscoping, 3D lighting, motion blur, puppet animating and other advanced effects options.

    Third Party Plugins

    • Premiere Pro is not limited to the included plug-ins: a wide variety of third-party plug-in effects expand the program's capabilities. Some plug-in options include video noise reduction, 3D composition, texture mapping, audio scoring technology, vector tilting, and literally hundreds of other options. Adobe's website offers many freely downloadable plug-ins.
