Different Kinds of Word Processing

Whether you're writing a term paper, letter or work project, using a good word processing program is important. These programs have been made easier to use over time thanks to technology. Formatting, spelling, style, and grammar are all part of the word processing programs to help you finish a project.

Microsoft Word

Microsoft Office Word has been around for decades, providing users an ability to create documents for educational, business, and personal use. Microsoft Word allows you to type a document and structure it according to style. The author can preset headlines, bylines, titles, subtitles and more for composition structure. The program allows the writer to indent, bold or italics copy, and insert photos, graphics, tables and shapes. The writer has the ability to number pages, place headers and footers, and insert references and footnotes. Once the copy is finalized, the writer can send the document for reviews, edits and track changes. These changes are marked in red and provided for future edits. Another feature of Microsoft Word is the ability to apply document themes. These themes apply uniformed fonts, colors and add effects to your work for consistency.

Corel WordPerfect

Corel WordPerfect is a productivity program that provides basic word processing tools combined with modern capabilities. Much like Microsoft Word, work can be formatted into a personalized style, design and look. From font sizes to highlighted copy, the user has the ability to do everything from formatting a book to creating a work presentation. Corel WordPerect allows the user to save files as a Word file if you need to share with someone who works on the Word platform. This word processing software allows you to integrate a document into email software to help manage contacts and appointments within the WordPerfect program. New features include the ability of the WordPerfect document to be transformed into a PDF (portable document file) where text can be marked up for editing purposes. The SharePoint Server is an add-on to WordPerfect that allows multiple users to collaborate on a WordPerfect project simultaneously. SSuite WordGraph

Whereas Microsoft Word and Corel WordPerfect are well known programs that are often pre-installed on new computers, SSuite is a web-based office suite that is free of charge. WordGraph is a user-friendly program that may be without many of the features of the other well known programs, but SSuite promotes itself as easier to navigate. WordGraph provides the ability for the author to create presentations that are viewable in all web browsers, including Windows and Firefox. The document creator can design word art and math expressions. Documents can be exported as a PDF or as a photo file extension such as JPG, TIFF and GIF.
