Great Family Christmas Gifts

Christmas gifts for families should appeal to all members.

If you are planning on giving a Christmas gift to a large family, then you may spend a lot of money on individual gifts. Instead of buying eight or 10 individual gifts, consider one big gift that everyone in the family can appreciate. This means you may have to keep your gift more general than specific--but you can be creative still. Food gifts work well in the Christmas gift setting.

  1. Flavored Popcorn Tin

    • Purchase a large tin of flavored popcorn that includes at least three different types of sweet, spicy or salty popped kernels. You can buy these tins from online vendors and local stores. Check the date to make sure the popcorn is not old. You do not want to give a stale gift. Also, make sure you purchase a large and deep tin. This will help to ensure that all the family members get a handful or two of flavored popcorn throughout the Christmas season.

    Family Portrait Session

    • Arranging a family portrait session with a professional photographer and paying for it ahead of time is a sentimental and special gift for a family, if your budget allows you to splurge. Simply identify recommended local photographers and purchase a package for the family that can be redeemed at a later date. The family will then be responsible for purchasing the photos and frames after the session.

    Homemade Christmas Feast

    • Bless a large family at Christmas with a homemade feast. This is a gift that your family members can work on together, package and present to the family. Make sure that you set a date with the family when you can come over with the "gift," and make sure you tell them not to eat that night. Consider the dietary customs or restrictions of all the family members, and make sure you include Christmas-themed food. For example, you might want to prepare a sweet ham, a bowl of mashed potatoes, a side of fig pudding, a meat pie, and a batch of Christmas sugar cookies or festive cupcakes.
