In 1965, the Franklin County Historical Society declared Reynoldsburg "The Birthplace of the Commercial Tomato." Since then, every year, the city has hosted the Reynoldsburg Tomato Festival in honor of that designation. Thousands come each year to the festival to enjoy what the event organizers call "homegrown family fun." Held in August in the city's park, the festival features tomato displays of all types as well as food booths, arts and crafts, children's activities and free entertainment.
