Bose created the Acoustimass 5 three-piece audio system to work with your preexisting home theater or stereo to deliver deep surround sound. The entire system weighs just over 30 pounds, which makes it ideal for homeowners who want a simple and compact setup. Get the most of the various features with general setup and usage tips to optimize your home theater experience.
For the best surround sound and audio quality, Bose recommends separating the Acoustimass 5's two speakers approximately 6 to 12 feet apart. The minimum and maximum separation of the Acoustimass speakers is 3 and 15 feet, respectively.
Both of the Acoustimass' speakers are shielded and won't affect your television's video quality if placed near the TV. The Acoustimass module isn't shielded. Keep the module a minimum of 24 inches from your TV to avoid interference with the appliance.
The location of the Acoustimass 5 module changes the level of perceived bass. The standard position for the module is 3 to 5 feet from a wall corner; this provides a normal bass and treble balance. Decrease the perceived bass by moving the module away from the corner, or increase bass by moving it closer to the corner.
You may need to turn the treble dial on the Acoustimass system up or down depending on your room's decor. Wall-to-wall carpeting and other upholstery reduces treble, according to Bose, while a room with a lot of hard surfaces increases treble. You may need to fine tune your treble settings when you change your room's furniture, curtains or flooring to account for the decor's influence on treble.
Regular cleaning of your Bose Acoustimass 5 not only maintains the system's appearance, but may also help maintain high sound quality. Clean the front of the system's two speakers with a soft cloth dampened with water. Bose advises against using any kind of spray, as such sprays may get inside the speaker's sensitive instruments. The grills on the Acoustimass 5 module may occasionally collect dust and can be vacuumed.
