Residents in northeastern New Jersey are fortunate enough to share part of the Hudson River with New York City. A bike and walking path has been built along the river's edge from the George Washington Bridge to Jersey City. Dotting the path are several restaurants offering passersby good food with a view of the river and the Manhattan skyline. Does this Spark an idea?

    • Lua offers guests a hip and trendy space to enjoy authentic Latin cuisine and creative cocktails with a view of the Hudson River and the Manhattan skyline. Located in Frank Sinatra's birthplace, Hoboken, Lua's main dining room is a study in urban industrial chic with strategic use of lighting, fluid lines and an elliptical bar that acts as a focal point for the 7,000-square-foot venue.

      A three-course prix fixe dinner is offered early in the evening for those looking to watch the sunset over the river. Diners can also choose a variety of appetizers, soups, salads and small plates from the a la carte menu. Featured entrees include a Cuban slow-roasted pork shank; paella with lobster, shrimp, chorizo sausage, calamari, bay scallops, chicken and piquillo peppers in a saffron rice; and tilapia encrusted with coconut and almonds served with coconut rice and enchilada sauce.     Chart House Restaurant

    • The Chart House sits on a Hudson River pier directly across from Manhattan. Both the dining room and the bar sport floor-to-ceiling windows that ensure water views for all guests. The spacious main dining room features dark wood tones with blue accents and comfortable booth as well as table seating. The bar offers a happy hour menu that features small plates, like prime rib sliders and fish tacos, along with creative cocktails.

      The dinner menu changes daily to reflect the freshest seasonal and locally sourced seafood.     • The Crab House has been serving fresh seafood to its guests since it first opened its first location in Miami in 1975. The waitstaff is attentive and knowledgeable, and the mood is upbeat and lively.
